Just like Uwe Boll and his boxing, rumours of FREDDY VS. JASON VS. ASH don’t seem to want to go away. Granted, seeing the three horror icons go at it would kick my ass all over the place (and would be better than, say, a VS PINHEAD/MICHAEL flick), it’s just that people either don’t want to see it happen or would like to see it happen but can’t do dick about it.
In an interview with director Ronny Yu (who directed Freddy and Jason’s first outing), ComingSoon.net posed the question to Ronny about directing the film’s eventual sequel, and this was his response: “Yeah, they’ve been talking about it, and they even talk about bringing Ash [from Sam Raimi’s EVIL DEAD movies] into the equation, and I thought it’s terrific. It’s almost like an updated version of THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY. If they really want to do it and they want me to do it, I’d love to do it. It would be a lot of fun.”
Now, I like what Ronny’s done for horror, since he not only re-energized both franchises in FVSJ, but also brought Chucky back to life in BRIDE OF CHUCKY. But if you recall, this is the same line he iterated in the commentary for FVSJ, and it’s starting to get old. With the failed attempt earlier in the year to get another FRIDAY THE 13TH off the ground, this looks to be another ‘take it for what it’s worth’ type of thing.
