Much like the last poster we saw for Gareth Edwards’ upcoming GODZILLA, this latest one-sheet celebrates the franchise’s roots as it places the King of Monsters inside the Japanese flag. It took me a second to notice this, but if you look at GODZILLA’s spine you’ll see his name spelled out along his back. It’s a pretty cool and subtle touch to the poster making it that much better. Dig it below!

GODZILLA stomps into theaters on May 16th.

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Johnson, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn, Ken Watanabe, Richard T. Jones, Sally Hawkins, Akira Takarada, Victor Rasuk, Yuki Morita, and C.J. Adams star.
