Gate remake finds director

I don’t know why this news is so cool, it just is. Production Weekly’s Twitterin’ ass has announced that Alex Winter (Bill from BILL & TED fame; director of FREAKED) has signed on to direct the remake of THE GATE. In 3D (natch). Like I said, this just makes me smile – my own dislike of random remakes be damned!

If you’ve never seen the original film, directed by Tibor Takacs, its a creepy little gem about three young children accidentally release a horde of nasty, pint-sized demons from a hole in a suburban backyard. Those little bastards aren’t the only things terrorizing the kids, however.

Hopefully Winter will keep the whimsical/eerie tone of the original, as well as not screw things up with CGI. We need stop-motion creatures, dammit!

Keep them sleeves rolled up!
