Gemma Arterton will fight fairy tale beasts with Jeremy Renner in Hansel & Gretel

There’s still a whole forest of Grimm creatures out there menacing innocent youngsters, and Brit actress Gemma Arterton (TAMARA DREWE) will help Jeremy Renner wipe them out.

The PRINCE OF PERSIA princess and brief Bond babe will co-star in Paramount’s HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS, an action fairy tale that has the sibling survivors of that traumatic childhood “gingerbread house incident” all grown up and committed to slaying witches.

The project is being directed by Tommy Wirkola, of the Norwegian zombie-Nazi flick DEAD SNOW. Among the producers are Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, and the tone was previously hinted at “gory but funny” in the vein of SHAUN OF THE DEAD or EVIL DEAD II (but really, we should probably expect things to get carved down to a commercially palatable PG-13).

Renner has a tight schedule, but Heat Vision says the actor will somehow cram the project between NOT M:I4 and THE AVENGERS.
