Get a sneak peak of the opening dance sequence from The Muppets!

My favorite of the Muppet film openings has always been from 1981’s THE GREAT MUPPET CAPER which featured a smart, meta, and chaotically fun dance sequence layered with all manner of wacky shenanigans from our favorite hand puppets (it even succinctly set up the film’s overall story and villain).

Will THE MUPPETS follow suit with an equally well-conceived song and dance number? I don’t know, but a portion of it has been revealed online for you to hum along to. Like with much of the promotional materials we’ve seen up to this point, Jason Segel has been placed front and center once again. Not sure how I feel about that…

THE MUPPETS opens November 23rd.

Synopsis: On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino house band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.
