Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm on Mars and left behind by his crew, where he must draw upon his ingenuity and wit in order to survive. Enter Ridley Scott and Matt Damon in a film that's APOLLO 13 meets CAST AWAY. For those of you who read the book, you know it's just as entertaining as it sounds! Here's a few images of our hero(es) on Mars, as well as some pretty cool retro art for Total Film covers.

Pretty much everyone I know couldn't shut up about Andy Weir's book, and I was delighted to find it one of the best reads in a long time. I'd urge anyone who enjoys the written word to pick it up when they get the chance, although it looks like Ridley Scott will do it justice judging from the trailer below. In case you're looking to get more of a behind-the-scenes fix, you can head here and read up on our set-visit of THE MARTIAN. In meantime, we have 2 more months to see if Mark Watney has any shot of surviving on the red planet. See you at the party, Watney!

THE MARTIAN opens on October 2, 2015.
