We’re going to take a break from passing along the endless supply of “American Horror Story: Coven” teasers for something a little different: an “American Horror Story: Coven” featurette. This isn’t an average making-of video, however, but a pretty interesting look at the practice of voodoo in New Orleans, which of course the new season revolves around.

As for “Coven,” here’s what you need to know:

Over three hundred years have passed since the turbulent days of Salem and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe, who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona, the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.

“American Horror Story: Coven” stars, among many others, Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Patti Lupone, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, Taissa Farmiga, Denis O’Hare, Josh Hamilton and Frances Conroy. It premieres October 9th.
