Okay, I’m sure you all are sick of hearing GRINDHOUSE related news, but for all of you out there who are thinking about seeing the film a second time, this story might just be for you. Apparently since GRINDHOUSE pretty much bombed at the box office this past weekend (only bringing in about 12 million dollars), the Weinstein boys are coming up with a new scheme to try and recoup that 30 million they dumped into marketing the flick, not to mention the 100 million (plus some) the overall budget took up. They are thinking about a possible re-release of the film, with the two films PLANET OF TERROR and DEATH PROOF being re-released separately. This of course would mean they could possibly be re-cut, which is cool for PLANET OF TERROR because we’d get even more scenes from the film that just whoop our balls off, and it would be great for DEATH PROOF because it might make it watchable. But re-cutting these films and re-releasing them would mean losing that edgy grindhouse feel to it. Sounds to me like a typical studio ploy for $$$…oh Harvey, when will you learn?
