GHOSTBUSTERS (1984) Revisited – Horror Movie Review

The original Ghostbusters are back on the big screen in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, so this seemed like the perfect time to look back at director Ivan Reitman’s 1984 Ghostbusters (watch it HERE) in a new episode of our video series Deconstructing… Check out the video embedded above to revisit this enduring classic with us, and along the way maybe you’ll even learn something about “focused non-terminal repeating phantasms, pervy poltergeists, cursed locations, Slimer’s real voice, and the elusive Christopher Walken connection!”

Directed by Reitman from a screenplay written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, Ghostbusters has the following synopsis:

After the members of a team of scientists lose their cushy positions at a university in New York City, they decide to become “ghostbusters” to wage a high-tech battle with the supernatural for money. They stumble upon a gateway to another dimension, a doorway that will release evil upon the city. The Ghostbusters must now save New York from complete destruction.

Aykroyd and Ramis also star in the film with Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts, Rick Moranis, and William Atherton.

Deconstructing… is a monthly web series in which

we choose one of your favorite horror movies and take it apart piece by piece (lovingly, of course) to see what makes it a classic. Each episode examines the origins, legacy and mysteries behind our beloved genre’s most iconic titles… but we play fast and loose with the rules, so expect the unexpected!

The show is Written, Edited, and Narrated by Gregory Burkart, Produced by John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
