Ghostbusters being re-released to theaters and drive-ins July 1st!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

So this is cool! Apparently the original 1984 GHOSTBUSTERS starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson, is going to be re-released to theaters and drive-ins across the country with "a special message to fans" for "Ghostbusters Day"  on July 1st. Usually "Ghostbusters Day" is celebrated on June 8th (to coincide with the original's release day), but was delayed out of respect for the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests, according to an official statement.

Anyway, if you haven't seen the film yet, this seems like the perfect opportunity! Even if you have, f*ck it, watch it again! Here's the official synopsis:

After the members of a team of scientists (Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray) lose their cushy positions at a university in New York City, they decide to become "ghostbusters" to wage a high-tech battle with the supernatural for money. They stumble upon a gateway to another dimension, a doorway that will release evil upon the city. The Ghostbusters must now save New York from complete destruction.

Meanwhile, the upcoming "official" sequel GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE – directed by the Jason Reitman, son of the original director, Ivan Reitman, and starring most of the surviving cast as well as Finn Wolfhard and Paul Rudd – is now scheduled for March 5th, 2021.

So what do you guys think? Excited to see the film on the big-screen? Either way, sound off below!
