Girl Next Door trailer debuts

Nope, I’m not just reminding you of the wondrous Elisha Cuthbert vehicle of the same name (although I will jog your memory with a delightful pic below). This is a new GIRL NEXT DOOR, and the Official Website has just launched, providing a tantalizing (and quietly eerie) first look at the film.

It’s based on Jack Ketchum’s book of the same name, and I don’t want to describe too much of the plot because I think it’s worth it to take a look for yourself. Let’s just say it takes place in small-town America, 1950s. And in horror movie-land, you know things in that time and place ain’t all cheery smiles and white picket fences… Well, maybe they are, but inevitably those are just fronts for some deeply disturbed goings-on.

It’s actually a pretty fascinating trailer, seemingly giving away a lot and very little at the same time. I will say that, at least in these few minutes glimpsed, the time period looks to be depicted pretty effectively, as does a Stephen King-esque portrayal of troubled adolescence. I will certainly be keeping an eye on this, as you probably should.
