Back in March we got confirmation that the talented Amanda Seyfried would be starring in Catherine Hardwicke’s THE GIRL WITH THE RED RIDING HOOD. Well it seems Little Red has found her woodcutter!
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog, television actor Shiloh Fernandez has signed on as the male lead in RED RIDING HOOD. Fernandez (right) had actually tried for the leads in both TWILIGHT and SPEED RACER, ultimately being beat by Robert Pattinson and Emile Hirsch respectively. Not off to a great start here Fernandez… And get this, the kid had to screen-test and read seven times before he scored the role in RED RIDING HOOD. Not too promising here…
A bit of the plot for THE GIRL WITH THE RED RIDING HOOD has also been revealed, giving us a better idea of the direction Hardwicke is going with this one. Described as a ‘gothic horror re-imagining of the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale,’ THE GIRL WITH THE RED RIDING HOOD will follow a woman in a medieval village being terrorized by a werewolf. Seyfried (below) will be starring as the terrorized woman. Fernandez will star as ‘Peter, an orphaned woodcutter for whom Seyfried falls, much to the displeasure of her family.’
So what do you guys think? I’m digging the horror retelling of Little Red Riding Hood with Seyfried leading things but I’m not to sure about Hardwicke or Fernandez… I can’t be the only one, right?
