Glimpse some superpowers in the new teaser poster for Fantastic Four

There were a few indelible moments from the first trailer for Josh Trank‘s FANTASTIC FOUR but none more than the shot of the four heroes standing in front of some sort of power surge headed towards the sky. The source of the surge and the nature of how it impacts the characters is unknown, but it is a beautiful and impressive shot. Now, the marketing team is using that image as the focal point for the film’s new teaser poster.

The other noticeable thing about this poster is the lack of acting credits anywhere on the one sheet. Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell may not be as instantly recognizable as other actors in Marvel films, but excluding their names seems like a deliberate decision. As does the blatant tag that FANTASTIC FOUR comes from the same studio as X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Are these due to lack of confidence in the finished movie or is Fox just playing it safe?

Whatever the reason, this is a nice teaser poster that subtly adds visual hints to the powers for Sue Storm and her brother Johnny which did not appear in the same shot in the teaser trailer. Clearly, The Thing is transformed which leaves Reed Richards as the lone character without any visible powers on display. Hopefully the next trailer will rectify that.

FANTASTIC FOUR opens on August 7, 2015.
