In a movie being released this weekend, the world is going to be threatened by the arrival of multiple giant monsters… And yes, that does happen in GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, but right now I'm talking about MONSTER ISLAND – the latest mockbuster from the folks at The Asylum.

Always on top of their mockbuster game, The Asylum has gotten together a Godzilla-inspired movie in time for a premiere that coincides with the release of the latest actual Godzilla movie. MONSTER ISLAND will be airing on Syfy this Saturday, June 1st, at 9pm.

Written and directed by Mark Atkins, whose previous credits include PLANET OF THE SHARKS, EMPIRE OF THE SHARKS, and 6-HEADED SHARK ATTACK, the film has the following story:

As the world tries to stop a giant Kaiju bent on destruction more and more monsters appear – each one more terrible than the last – leaving mankind defenseless until our heroes reach out to a specialist versed in monster lore.

Eric Roberts, Toshi Toda, Chris Fisher, Adrian Bouchet, Meghan Oberholzer, Natalie Robbie, Jonathan Pienaar, and Donna Cormack star.

Produced by David Michael Latt, David Rimawi, and Paul Bales, MONSTER ISLAND was filmed in South Africa, New Zealand, and Los Angeles.

If you want to see giant monsters wreaking havoc in a new movie this weekend but can't make it out to the theatre, Syfy has you covered with MONSTER ISLAND.

After making its Syfy debut, MONSTER ISLAND will be receiving a VOD and DVD release on June 13th, followed by SVOD on September 13th.
