Gone in the Night trailer: Winona Ryder thriller formerly known as The Cow is coming to theatres

A few months ago, we heard that Vertical Entertainment had come out the winner in a bidder war over the distribution rights to a mystery thriller called The Cow, which they were planning to give a theatrical release later this year. Since then, The Cow has understandably undergone a title change – it’s now known as Gone in the Night – and Vertical has announced that they’re bringing it to theatres on July 15th. With that date less than a month away, a trailer for Gone in the Night has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.

Gone in the Night will also be receiving a digital and VOD release on August 2nd.

The feature directorial debut of Eli Horowitz, co-creator of the Amazon anthology series HomecomingGone in the Night stars Winona Ryder (Stranger Things), John Gallagher Jr. (10 Cloverfield Lane), Owen Teague (The Stand), Brianne Tju (47 Meters Down: Uncaged), and Dermot Mulroney (Young Guns). Horowitz wrote the screenplay with Matthew Derby, crafting a story that begins when

Kath (Ryder) and her boyfriend (Gallagher Jr.) arrive at a remote cabin in the redwoods, only to discover that a mysterious younger couple is already there. The rental has apparently been double-booked, and with nowhere else to go, they decide to share the cabin with these strangers. When her boyfriend disappears with the young woman, Kath becomes obsessed with finding an explanation for their sudden breakup—but the truth is far stranger than she could have ever imagined.

The film was produced by Shaun Sanghani and Russ Posternak, along with BoulderLight Pictures’ Raphael Margules and JD Lifshitz. mm2 Asia executive produced.

From the trailer, Gone in the Night looks interesting to me and I’ve been a fan of Winona Ryder since the ’80s, so I will be watching this movie for sure. Will you? Let us know what you thought of the trailer by leaving a comment below.
