Goyer Turns Green

Our good friend David Goyer is proving the old adage that when it rains it pours. Not only does he have new projects popping up seemingly everyday, he’s also steadily getting his hands dirty with just about every power position you can have in the movies. He’s now taking the production and development reins in a remake/update of the 1973 classic SOYLENT GREEN. (Stop reading here if you don’t know the original ending) Now since the twist is so well known – Soylent Green Is People! – Goyer said, “So the first movie is kind of the first act of our film, and then it’s about what happens afterwards.”

That really opens up the field for some messy shenanigans in the second and third act. Whether or not Goyer decides to drive it strictly Sci-fi, or take the Horror expressway, he’s always brought the messy goods to his projects, so this should be quite a treat. On a personal note, finally the type of movie that deserves a remake. Taking a movie that’s older, known but kinda forgotten, and then pushing it to a different level than the original – that I can respect and get excited about.
