Last year we learned that THE RUINS director Carter Smith had quietly helmed a new supernatural-themed film titled JAMIE MARKS IS DEAD, finally getting our first look at the film a few months ago when we brought you the first clip and poster for it. Now Screen Daily is reporting that Gravitas Ventures has picked up US rights from UTA to Smith’s new teen horror thriller, which is based on Christopher Barzak’s novel "One For Sorrow" and premiered at Sundance, with plans to release the film theatrically and on VOD on August 29.

The cast includes Cameron Monaghan, Morgan Saylor and Liv Tyler. Here's what we know:

No one seemed to care about Jamie Marks until after his death. Hoping to find the love and friendship he never had in life, Jamie’s ghost visits former classmate Adam McCormick, drawing him into the bleak world between the living and the dead.

Hopefully we'll be seeing and hearing more on this one real soon. It's definitely piqued my interest.

Liv Tyler
