In his sophomore directorial effort, THE GREAT DEBATERS, Denzel Washington stars as Melvin B. Tolson, a professor at Wiley College Texas who, in 1935, inspired a group of students to form the school’s first debate team, compete at the national level and essentially kick some ass and take some goddamn names. Below, Blackfilm shows us a first picture of Washington instructing his students in the proper way one goes about shitting down another debate team’s throat. Or something to that effect.
