In his sophomore directorial effort, THE GREAT DEBATERS, Denzel Washington stars as Melvin B. Tolson, a professor at Wiley College Texas who, in 1935, inspired a group of students to form the school’s first debate team, compete at the national level and essentially kick some ass and take some goddamn names. Below, Blackfilm shows us a first picture of Washington instructing his students in the proper way one goes about shitting down another debate team’s throat. Or something to that effect. The flick’s set for release next year. Click through for bigness.
