Oh, I can never get enough of my ’80s slasher with a side of cheese. It may be one of my guiltiest pleasures. Which is why, with a guilt-ridden grin, I am pleased to report on a new genre entry that looks to fulfill my fun-loving appetite. It’s called THE GREEN MONSTER and it seems to be sharing its story with that of the classics MOTEL HELL and BLOOD DINER. Take a stab at it:
Married couple Gerald and Molly (above, I’m guessing) are owners of a downtrodden convenience store who employ equal parts dark magic and down home cooking to attract the reckless teenagers who like to use their business as a haven for illegal activities.
When some local teens go missing, all signs point to the couple’s uniquely Southern recipes and the dumpster out back overflowing with dead bodies!
A campy horror flick that goes to show if the food don’t kill you… THE GREEN MONSTER will!
So what exactly is this GREEN MONSTER? Is it just the dumpster out back or is it also some sort of machine that grinds up the bodies and turns them into the Southern recipes? That’s my best guess. Regardless, it still sounds like my kind of feta-filled fun! Maybe it’ll be the MOTEL HELL of this generation? Either way, I like that gory pic below.
MONSTER was directed by Bryan Roberts and Nolan Ball from a screenplay by Trevor Wright. It stars Edward X. Young and Colleen Cohan as the crazy couple (both were in SEA OF DUST). The rest of the cast includes Bethany Taylor (FRAT HOUSE MASSACRE), Nathaniel Sylva, Beatrice Strobl, Kachina Dechert, Megan Sacco, Bryan Lombardo, Andrew Cordio, Phoebe French, and a special appearance by Marv Blauvelt (SCULPTURE).
