Space Force, Netflix, Steve Carell

Greg Daniels is best known for his work on Saturday Night Live, The Simpsons, King of the Hill, The Office, and Parks & Recreation, and the creator's latest series debuted on Netflix just last week. Space Force is a workplace comedy which just so happens to center around a group of people tasked with establishing the sixth branch of the United States Armed Forces. Steve Carell stars in Space Force as Mark Naird, a four-star general and decorated pilot with dreams of running the Air Force who is thrown for a loop with his new directive.

The first season of Space Force, which consists of ten-episodes, is now available on Netflix, and while the reviews haven't been quite on the same level of Greg Daniels' previous shows, the creator told Collider that he remains hopeful that the series will return for more seasons.

We’re certainly hoping for a few more seasons, and we have started to assemble the senior writers to discuss what would happen next year. We don’t have the pickup yet, but yeah. There’s a lot to follow up on based on where we ended.

In addition to Steve Carell, Space Force also stars John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Diana Silvers, Tawny Newsome, Jimmy O. Yang, Jane Lynch, Noah Emmerich, Lisa Kudrow, and the late Fred Willard. Our own Alex Maidy seemed to enjoy Space Force more than most in his review, but said that although it wound up being "much better than I expected it to be and will certainly make many of you laugh," it wasn't good enough to earn a spot alongside The Office.

The official synopsis for Space Force:

A decorated pilot with dreams of running the Air Force, four-star general Mark R. Naird (Steve Carell) is thrown for a loop when he finds himself tapped to lead the newly formed sixth branch of the US Armed Forces: Space Force. Skeptical but dedicated, Mark uproots his family and moves to a remote base in Colorado where he and a colorful team of scientists and “Spacemen” are tasked by the White House with getting American boots on the moon (again) in a hurry and achieving total space dominance.

The first season of Space Force is now streaming on Netflix. Would you be down for another season of the series?
