Ewww! Gross! MOLD!!!! Well, my friends, it looks like the green fuzzy stuff is finally getting its own horror movie! But don’t think I forgot about the attack on Stephen King in CREEPSHOW, but that was just a small part of a much larger anthology. In this new flick I just heard about, MOLD is the star as well as the title. Have a look at how it figures into the plot:
Set in 1984, when the war on drugs was at its height, the story concerns a strain of mold developed by the government to wipe out Colombian coca fields. Unfortunately, during a demonstration, the mold gets out of control and proves to be deletirious to more than just vegetation. The result, Meschino tells us, is “conspiracy, murder, torture, mutilation, melting eyes, collapsing heads, vomit, more vomit, half-naked chicks and gooey, gory fun.
Well, that certainly does sound like some sick entertainment (like that pic from the flick up top). The mightily mold-centric special FX are coming from Jeremy Selenfriend (BLOOD NIGHT) who had a pretty nice quote regarding the flick: “This is as sloppy and messy a film as I’ve ever worked on—and I say that with love. I’ve already gone through around seven gallons of green slime, and we’re only halfway done!” I’d definitley call that a positive endorsement.
