Groundhog Death

Remember that movie GROUNDHOG DAY with Bill Murray as the a-hole who keeps waking up to Sonny and Cher in order for him to live the day to it’s fullest and become a better person? Classic shit right there. We got a head’s up from Odyssey Entertainment/ Isle of Man Films today about a little flick called THE DEATHS OF IAN, which takes kind of the same idea and rolls with it.

Currently filming in London, THE DEATHS OF IAN is being produced by Stan Winston, and directed by Dario Piana, and it goes a little something like this:

Ian Stone (Mike Vogel) is an all-American kid with a great life and a loving and devoted girlfriend, Jenny Walker (Christina Cole). Late one night, while driving home from a painful loss on the field, Ian comes across a bewildering discovery; what looks like a dead body near the railroad tracks. Investigating the grisly discovery, Ian is attacked by the ‘corpse’, forced onto the tracks and run over by an oncoming train…

Only to wake up in an office cubicle! He’s still alive and living with a beautiful but eerily mysterious woman called Medea (Jaime Murray). Jenny is still there, but she’s not his girlfriend, just a co-worker and one of a number of apparently familiar faces. That’s when Ian learns he is being hunted. Every day at the same time the clocks stop and someone, or something, comes for him…and kills him. The only problem is Ian won’t stay dead. He wakes in a new life and new place each day, only to find the cycle repeating itself. He is desperately searching for someone to help him make sense of what’s going on before his pursuers succeed in killing him for the last time!

If that doesn’t spell good times, I don’t know what does! Killing the same dude over and over and over again- I mean, really, how frickin’ awesome does this sound? Not only that, but his first kill by zombie… and train… I can only imagine what the others end up like.

The films stars Mike Vogel, Christina Cole, Jaime Murray and Michael Feast, and is being pimped out with special effects by Stan Winston Studios. No release date or distributor as of yet, but with a premise like that, and the effects to accompany it, I see a release very near in the future. And you know we’ll keep you posted as we hear anything that’s going on with this film- it just sounds too cool to miss!

And no, there’s no reason for any of these pictures, other than Christina is hot….
