Well ladies and gentlemen, considering news isn’t flowing as freely on this early Wednesday morning I’m going to step away from our beloved horror genre for a quick second to give you all an update on a more action-oriented film. Now considering said flick is based on a viciously gritty comic about a soldier who kills a bunch of Nazis, well it may actually be right down our alley after all.
I’m talking about the comic SGT. ROCK, which we told you about way back in 2008. Back then Guy Ritchie was being eyed for the director’s chair of the adaptation but that eventually fell through when it looked like Francis Lawrence was going to join the project. But alas it seems that wasn’t to be either considering Twitch are reporting that Guy Ritchie is once again in line to direct SGT. ROCK.
This is good news because rather than Lawrence’s version of the adaptation, which would switch out the World War II setting for a more futuristic war, Ritchie is said to be supervising a script that stays true to the comic, keeping the WWII setting. That’s good news because you can’t really have a soldier annihilating Nazis unless it’s WWII right?
During World War II, Sgt. Rock fought in the infantry branch of the U.S. Army in the European Theatre and eventually rose to authority within his unit, Easy Company. The unit was a collection of disparate individuals who managed to participate in every major action in the European war.
Ritchie’s involvement in SGT. ROCK hasn’t been made official yet but it seems it’s just a matter of time. So while we wait for more news on SGT. ROCK to pan out let’s spit some bullets below on who you guys might want to see as the titular character!
