Jamie Lee Curtis says Halloween Kills is a timely masterpiece

We were supposed to see the release of HALLOWEEN KILLS just a few weeks ago but the global pandemic had other plans. Like just about every film planned for release in 2020, the film was delayed a year until October 15, 2021. That hasn't stopped Blumhouse from teasing the film and they used their first inaugural Blumfest to release a short teaser of the film that was well-received by fans if social media is any indication. Jamie Lee Curtis, who will be returning to face evil once again as Laurie Strode, has always been talking the film up recently and she believes that the film is relevant to the times we're living in today.

Curtis recently participated in an interview with SiriusXM's Jess Cagle and she took the time to explain why she believes the horror sequel is a timely masterpiece:

"What we were seeing around the country of the power, of the rage of voices, big groups of people coming together enraged at the set of circumstances, that's what the movie is. The movie is about a mob. And so it's very interesting because it takes on what happens when trauma infects an entire community. And we're seeing it everywhere with the Black Lives Matter movement. We're seeing it in action and 'Halloween Kills' weirdly enough, dovetailed onto that, proceeded it, it was written before that occurred, but then of course, so when you see it, it's a seething group of people moving through the story as a big angry group, it's really, really, really intense. It's a masterpiece."

The 2018 film saw Michael Myers returning to Haddonfield after he first stalked their streets in 1978. The first film dealt with Laurie's trauma over the events of the first film and not being able to let them go. She has been preparing for his return and, as she rightly believed, Myers did come back to get the one that got away. Based on Curtis' latest comments, it seems like Laurie will have the entire town of Haddonfield on her side when Myers begins to kill again. This is essentially what director David Gordon Green said when he was discussing the plot of the film back in July:

"If the first film was somewhat retelling the origin of Myers and getting us up to speed with where Laurie had been all those years, then part two is about the outrage of Haddonfield. Mob Rules was our working title for the film. It's about a community that is united by outrage, and divided in how to deal with evil."

HALLOWEEN KILLS was written by Gordon Green, Danny McBride, Paul Brad Logan, and Chris Bernier, and it sees the return of Judy Greer and Andi Matichak as Laurie's daughter and granddaughter, respectively. Joining the cast is Anthony Michael Hall, taking on the role of Tommy Doyle, who appeared in the original film, and Kyle Richards, reprising her role as Lindsey Wallace, a character she portrayed back in the 1978 horror classic.
