In the history of projects that shouldn’t have worked but did, George Hamilton’s LOVE AT FIRST BITE has to be at the top of the list. Mixing genre with romantic comedy was such a great WTF!? moment. Yet curiously it worked. Mostly because of a goofy script, a nice sense of play with the disparate elements, and of course, the master of tan – Mr. George Hamilton.
Well kids, it looks like they’re going to roll the dice again.
In what sounds like MEET THE FOCKERS with vampires, the flick will take place 25 years later, centering on Dracula’s Americanized son, who has rejected his family’s heritage and is getting married to a human. Trouble ensues when he learns that his vampire relatives are coming to America for the wedding.
With scripter David Steinberg (AMERICAN PIE 2) aboard, the laughs should be no problem. And if they take advantage of just how much we’d all like to have vampiric powers when dealing with the in-laws, there’s plenty of potential for some nasty genre moments too.
The again, it could just be a massive train wreck.
