Harry Styles’ Starfox turn wasn’t a one-off

Harry Styles is one of the top stars on the planet, and Marvel is going to make sure he becomes one of the biggest draws in the universe–the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that is. This would build off of Harry Styles’ mid-credits cameo in 2021’s Eternals, in which he played Eros aka Starfox.

Producer and Marvel executive Nate Moore ensured fans (on Deadline’s Crew Call podcast) that Harry Styles would indeed be returning as Starfox for an upcoming movie. “We didn’t cast Harry for a tag…(There’s) more stories to be told with that character.”

As far as what those stories are remains to be revealed, but Moore has at least outlined one of his key character traits for those unaware. “He has an interesting connection with Thanos; they’re half-brothers and share the same father.” On top of that, he said, “He’s a complicated character, but a really fun character.”

In summer 2022, Patton Oswalt (who voiced Pip, the right-hand troll of Harry Styles’ Starfox) confirmed there would be an Eternals 2, saying, “They have announced there is going to be an Eternals sequel and Chloé Zhao is going to direct it…So, hopefully, there will be more adventures of Starfox and Pip.”

Interestingly, Moore previously said an Eternals sequel wouldn’t be necessary for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “Obviously, we have ideas of where we could go, but there isn’t a hard and fast rule where we have to have three of these things and this is the first. If you just watch Eternals, you can enjoy Eternals, you can understand Eternals and you’re good to go.”

Starfox or not, Harry Styles has been trying to get his movie career to be taken more serious than one may anticipate. Last year, he starred in both Olivia Wilde’s tabloid favorite Don’t Worry Darling and the romantic drama My Policeman.

What do you think about Harry Styles as Starfox becoming a bigger player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Is Styles a good fit for the MCU or will his already-cemented superstardom overshadow the rest of the movie? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
