HBO reveals first glimpses of Game of Thrones fourth season and other 2014 premieres

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

HBO has produced a nice year end montage showing all of their shows from 2013 including VEEP, VICE, TRUE BLOOD, THE NEWSROOM, BOARDWALK EMPIRE, EASTBOUND AND DOWN, and GAME OF THRONES, recapping some of the big moments from each of those series. I love these retrospective videos to remember the great TV we witnessed this past year, but around the minute and a half mark we get a look at what 2014 has in store for us.

First up is several quick shots at the upcoming fourth season of GAME OF THRONES including Tyrion in chains, Jamie cleaned up nicely, and Joffrey on his infamous wedding day. The fourth season will continue directly from where the third left off and primarily comprise the second half of the book A Storm of Swords.

After GAME OF THRONES, there is also the first scenes from Damon Lindelof‘s new series THE LEFTOVERS which follows people after The Rapture. The pilot was directed by Peter Berg and stars Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, and Ann Dowd. The show looks pretty good and is definitely a must see for next year.

Also included here are scenes from TRUE DETECTIVE and the original movies THE NORMAL HEART from director Ryan Murphy and OLIVE KITTERIDGE starring Bill Murray. The quality from HBO has never been in doubt and next year looks to be no exception.
