I’m not sure what kinda chick would dig a weird half-fish man… But I want to meet her! Not that I look like a half-fish man, it’s just that, you know… I’m a little scaly.

But Abe Sapien, friend to Hellboy, is most certainly going to be a lucky half-fish man in Guillermo del Toro’s next flick HELLBOY 2: THE GOLDEN ARMY. The actor who plays Abe, Doug Jones (you also know him as the bloke providing the quirky movements of Faun in PAN’S LABYRINTH, as well as being a certain shiny, surfboard-obsessed alien in an upcoming sure-to-be-dreadful summer movie), revealed to SCI FI WIRE a few interesting tidbits regarding his character’s surprising new subplot in the highly anticipated sequel…

“His love life is something that’s never been tapped into before. So just like a 13-year-old with his first crush, this is how you’re going to see Abe this time. A portion of him. Will this affect his decision-making powers? Does it make us stupid when we’re in love for the first time? It did me, so let’s see what happens to Abe.”

Ohh Abe, you naughty sardine you! Will Abe be putting the moves on Hellboy’s galpal Liz (Selma Blair), creating the weirdest love-triangle imaginable? Or will it his squeeze be more of a water-breather? Check out the rest of Sci Fi Wire’s interview with Jones, as he talks a bit about the other roles he’ll be playing in H2, as well as his (none-too-keen) thoughts on being dubbed.

Ms. Blair will always hold a special place in my heart for her Oscar-worthy performance as a naive girl who makes-out with Sarah Michelle Gellar… Heart-wrenching stuff…
