It’s finally official! After what seems like forever, with everyone from star Ron Perlman to director Guillermo del Toro saying that it will happen eventually, HELLBOY 2 is going to be made!

According to Variety, Universal picked up the sequel and has plans on releasing it summer 2008! See, the original was distributed by Revolution Studios, which has since gone out of business, so the rights to the sequel were up for the taking. Cool shite. Way to go Universal!

Those officially confirmed as returning are Perlman (wouldn’t be a movie without that guy) and Selma Blair! Somehow I’m surprised she’s back, but glad as hell she is. One, she’s hot, and two, she did a decent job as Liz, the pyrokinetic love interest to the boy from hell.
