We’re just over two weeks away from the October 7th Hulu release of The Ritual and The Night House director David Bruckner’s reboot of the horror classic Hellraiser, and today a trailer for the film has arrived online! You can watch it in the embed above. Along with the trailer, Hulu has also unveiled a poster for the new Hellraiser and a handful of new images from the film, and you can see those at the bottom of this article.

Producer David S. Goyer came up with the story for the new film, and the screenplay was written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski (Super Dark Times). Based on Clive Barker’s novella The Hellbound Heart, the film has the following synopsis:

A young woman struggling with addiction comes into possession of an ancient puzzle box, unaware that its purpose is to summon the Cenobites, a group of sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension.

Bruckner told Entertainment Weekly“This is not a remake. I just didn’t think you could ever remake the original Hellraiser. It’s too much its own thing and it would be, I think, perilous territory for filmmakers, because how do you top that? This is a new story in the Hellraiser universe.”

Judging by the trailer, this could have been marketed as another sequel in the Hellraiser franchise, aside from some re-designs here and there.

This take on the Hellraiser concept stars Odessa A’zion (Let’s Scare Julie), Goran Visnjic (The Boys), Adam Faison (Everything’s Gonna Be Okay), Drew Starkey (Outer Banks), Brandon Flynn (13 Reasons Why), Aoife Hinds (Anne Boleyn), Jason Liles (Stereoscope), Yinka Olorunnife (The Transporter), Selina Lo (Boss Level), Zachary Hing (Halo), Kit Clarke (Leonardo), and Hiam Abbass (Blade Runner 2049), with professional football/soccer player Vukašin Jovanović as a Cenobite called The Masque and Jamie Clayton (Sense8)  as Pinhead.

A Hulu Original, in association with Spyglass Media Group, the film was produced by Goyer, Barker, Keith Levine, and Marc Toberoff. Gary Barber, Peter Oillataguerre, and Todd Williams serve as executive producers, with Chris Stone and Gracie Wheelan co-producing.
