Here are the winners for the 21st Annual Golden Schmoes!

The winners are in for the 21st Annual Golden Schmoes, the longest-running fan voted awards out there. Who took home the most prizes?

Last Updated on March 17, 2023

Well everyone, the winners for the 21st Annual Golden Schmoes for the year 2022 are in! As expected, Everything Everywhere All At Once absolutely cleaned up. Just like Spider-Man: No Way Home last year, It took home seven of the big awards, including “Favorite Movie”, “Best Actress”, “Best Director” and more. Top Gun: Maverick was the other big winner, with 4 wins, albeit BIG ones, with Tom Cruise’s Maverick taking home “Coolest Character”, while the movie also took home “Best Action Scene”, “Most Memorable Scene” and “Biggest Surprise”. Why would it be considered the “Biggest Surprise” you may ask? Well, I think we all expected Top Gun: Maverick to be good, but did we think it would be an instant classic? I agree with the voters on this one. That said, nothing broke any records for most Golden Schmoes wins of all time, with The Dark Knight still holding that record with a dozen wins.

Some of the choices here are really interesting. One I was especially happy about was to see that Robert Eggers’ The Northman won for “Most Underrated Movie” as to me that one is a cult classic in the making. It was also nice to see Mia Goth recognized in the “Breakthrough Performance” category, as the mainstream award shows too often neglect horror films. Goth was really amazing in X and Pearl. Surprisingly, Marvel didn’t fare all that well this year. Despite Angela Bassett winning “Best Supporting Actress” for her powerhouse turn in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the film nabbed the “Most Overrated” award while Thor: Love and Thunder got the dubious “Biggest Disappointment” award. Still, they did better than Sony’s attempt at a Marvel movie, Morbius, which, to no one’s surprise, took home the “Worst Movie” award. Let us know what you think of the winners in the comments below!
