Back in 1999, Eduardo Sanchez looked like he was going to be the next big thing after the huge success of THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. While he has worked steadily in the last 15 years, he has yet to attain that same level of critical or box office success. Lionsgate looks to be taking another chance on Sanchez and his brand of found footage horror with this fall’s EXISTS.

Where THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT managed to scare folks with what they didn’t see, this trailer makes no mistake that we are going to get glimpses of the monster lurking in the woods, even if it is via shaky GoPro footage.

For five friends, it was a chance for a summer getaway— a weekend of camping in the Texas Big Thicket. But visions of a carefree vacation are shattered with an accident on a dark and desolate country road. In the wake of the accident, a bloodcurdling force of nature is unleashed—something not exactly human, but not completely animal— an urban legend come to terrifying life…and seeking murderous revenge.

If you couldn’t tell from that synopsis, EXISTS is going to pit these lucky folks visiting the cliche abandoned cabin in the forest against Bigfoot himself. While it may be hard to make a convincing movie about Sasquatch, especially when your make-up and costume looks like the same one used for those beef jerky commercials, EXISTS could be a fun diversion that arrives just in time for Halloween.

EXISTS hits theaters October 24th.
