Image Entertainment will release Herschell Gordon Lewis’ The Blood Trilogy on Blu-ray on September 27. The release includes three cult classics directed by the Godfather of Gore: BLOOD FEAST, TWO THOUSAND MANIACS! and COLOR ME BLOOD RED. No word on special features or cover art, but it will retail for an affordable $17.97.

1963’s BLOOD FEAST stars William Kerwin, Mal Arnold and Connie Mason. Egyptian caterer busies himself collecting body parts from young maidens in order to bring Ishtar, an ancient goddess of good and evil back to life. When he has prepared enough parts for the ceremony, he hypnotizes a woman giving an engagement party for her daughter, at which he plans to perform the ancient rites of summons, using the daughter as his final sacrifice.

1964’s TWO THOUSAND MANIACS stars Connie Mason (below), William Kerwin and Jeffrey Allen. The citizens of the southern town Pleasant Valley lure six Yankee tourists into town where they are to be the reluctant guests for the centennial celebration of the day a band of renegade Union troops decimated the town. The town then participates in events, a different event for each of the tourists, in which the tourist is dispatched. One couple begins to suspect something and seeks a way to escape.

1965’s COLOR ME BLOOD RED stars Gordon Oas-Heim, Candi Conder and Elyn Warner. An eccentric artist is panned by a well-known critic at his opening for not having a good color sense, so he starts a new series, using his own blood to paint. Soon he is weakened and must find other sources of blood to continue his paintings.
