Highway Blood vamps

Now here is one fun friggin’ vampire flick! It immediately reminds me of BUFFY. In fact Xander Harris himself, Nicholas Brendan, has a role in it! And one of the girls in it looks pretty similar to Sarah Michelle Gellar! The flick is called BLOOD ON THE HIGHWAY and one thing that definitely sets it apart from BUFFY is its copious amounts of gore and openly horny sex! I made this distinction after viewing HIGHWAY’s kick-ass and hilarious new trailer on its official website right here. Check out the highly enjoyable synopsis:

After a gastrointestinal mishap with their map, three twenty-somethings on a road-trip accidentally wander into Fate, Texas, only to find the town populated by bloodthirsty, dimwitted vampires. A brutal run-in with two carnivorous convenience store clerks leads the three to take refuge with the town’s only surviving humans and prepare for battle with an army of the undead.

Can you think of any other plotlines that begin with “After a gastrointestinal mishap”? I sure as hell can’t. All the more reason to check out HIGHWAY. I’m suck a sucker for comedy/horror done right, hence I’m looking forward to this one so far.

It was directed by Blair Rowan who co-wrote the script with Chris Gardner. In addition to Xander, the rest of the cast consists of Deva George, Nate Rubin, Robin Gierhart, Tony Medlin, and Laura Stone. HIGHWAY has already made the rounds on the festival circuit, so I’m guessing it’s only a matter of time before it heads down the “official release” turnpike.
