Oh, I just love twisted, crazed, comedic independent horror… especially when they’re set in New Jersey! Hence I’ve already attained partial wood over the new flick I just heard about called HOT BABY. Let’s hop headfirst into the plot:
Jim Cavanaugh is a shy New Jersey teen, who lives with Tex, his jerk of a father. Jim decides to flee the abuse and sets off to find his mother, who left when he was young, but his journey leads him to the New Jersey backwoods where he runs afoul of a group of deranged hillbillies—leading to much mayhem and a twisted family reunion.
Ah, there’s nothing quite like backwoods, Jersey hillbillies—some scary shit! BABY was written and directed by first-timer Jeff Roenning who shot at the Delaware Water Gap, Watchung and Irvington, NJ and Staten Island, New York (all wonderfully familiar places). He also is promising a fairly high score on the gore factor with highlights such as a chunk being blown off someone’s head as well as an uncomfortable castration (is something like that ever comfortable?).
The cast is comprised of Adam Scarimbolo, Emily Grace, Heidi Kristoffer (SCREAMING DEAD, below), Greg Travis (TOOLBOX MURDERS), Mel Gorham, and Noah Fleiss. Roenning is planning on releasing HOT BABY via iTunes, since he’s a research scientist at Apple and did all the postproduction there, including the CGI. You can check out the flick’s official website here.
