The Sanderson sisters are back! Production on Hocus Pocus 2 recently kicked off with Better Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy all set to reprise their roles. According to THR, Hocus Pocus 2 added Sam Richardson (The Tomorrow War) to its cast, joining the returning stars.

Hocus Pocus 2 will revolve around three young women who accidentally resurrect the Sanderson sisters in modern-day Salem. The original film has become something of a cult classic over the years and has become a Halloween tradition for some families. Anne Fletcher (The Proposal) is directing the Hocus Pocus sequel from a script by Jen D’Angelo (Workaholics) for a 2022 release on Disney+.

Now more than ever, people need to laugh,” Anne Fletcher said earlier this year. “We should be laughing every day, and there is so much fun to be had with these three unbelievable women playing delicious characters from such a beloved film. I am so grateful to be able to play a part in bringing these witches back to life, and to be working with my friends at Disney again makes it all the more special. This is a movie for everyone, from the fans who grew up with the first film to the next generation of viewers, and I can’t wait to get started.

As for Sam Richardson, Hocus Pocus 2 isn’t the only sequel he’s got on the slate as he’s expected to return alongside Chris Pratt for The Tomorrow War 2. He’s also got another project with Pratt in the works as well with Stranded Asset, an action-comedy that Richardson also co-wrote with Jen D’Angelo. It’s not known exactly what the film will be about, but Pratt and Richardson had great chemistry to The Tomorrow War, so I’m excited to see what they come up with next.
