Dread Central managed to get a few words with screenwriter Mark Altman about the HOUSE OF THE DEAD sequel. Not much new info, but he does verify a few things:
“There have already been a lot of rumors about this project on the web and we’ll be making an announcement about House of the Dead soon. What I can tell you definitively is that Uwe Boll is not involved with production of the sequel although we wish him the best on all his upcoming projects. We have a great director in Mike Hurst whose helming it and it’s a completely separate story with a differenet cast and a story that is more faithful to that of the video game.”
Sounds like they’re on the right track. The interview also has quite a bit of info on another Mindfire project, ALL SOUL’S DAY (pictured top right):
“We’re really excited about All Souls Day: Dia De Los Muertos, our first film through the CFQ Films label, the film dvision of Cinefantastique Magazine, which Mindfire owns. It has an absolutely great cast which includes Marisa Ramirez from David Greenwalt’s short lived series “Miracles”, Laura Harring from Mullholland Drive, David Keith, Danny Trejo and Ellie Cornell from Halloween IV and, of course, Jeffrey Combs is playing a very different part for him. He’s great. Almost Human has done some awesome make-up effects and prosthetics and our director Jeremy Kasten, who did a little low-budget gem, The Attic Expeditions, a few years ago, did a masterful job shooting the picture. It’s very moody and, hopefully, smart with some great gore and action. The basic premise is that some Americans find themselves stranded in this cursed town in Mexico on the Day of the Dead in which…as you would suspect…the dead rise to visit their loved ones once more and it isn’t to bring them flowers. We just locked picture on it and are making a big announcement this week so stay tuned…”
