Did you think it would take a miracle? Well if so, then fortunately you chose wrong. THE PRINCESS BRIDE, despite having already seen several incarnations on DVD and Blu-Ray alike, will now be given a fully revamped 25th Anniversary Blu-Ray this coming October 2nd. Most of the special features are, admittedly, set to be recycled from past releases. But a few new featurettes have joined the fray, and you can check out the complete list below!

ALL NEW – TRUE LOVE: THE PRINCESS BRIDE PHENOMENON (Pts. 1 & 2) For 25 years, viewers have watched and loved The Princess Bride. But why does it resonate so strongly for all ages? This two-part featurette offers some answers, along with funny and touching tributes from its cast, director, writer and fans.

o   Part 1: TRUE LOVE: THE PRINCESS BRIDE PHENOMENON – A Conversation with Rob Reiner, Cary Elwes and Robin Wright.  The director and his stars reunite for this lively discussion of the film’s 25th anniversary, favorite fan encounters and memories from the set, illustrated by never-before-seen dailies.

o   Part 2: TRUE LOVE: THE PRINCESS BRIDE PHENOMENON – Hear from the film’s creators and cast, passionate fans, and see film tributes and parodies, as we explore why the movie became a phenomenon. Interviewees include Rob Reiner, Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Billy Crystal, Mandy Patinkin, Christopher Guest, Chris Sarandon, writer William Goldman, executive producer Norman Lear, Rob’s father Carl Reiner, and more.

In another cool bit of news, you can actually help decide on the box art eventually used for the Blu-Ray release.  Just ride on over to Facebook between now and July 11th, then head back on the 12th to see the winner. And if you’re frustrated at having to buy this film yet again, well, try not to be.  It’s not THE PRINCESS BRIDE’s fault that it’s the most enchanting and the best film practically ever made.  Curiously though, this Blu-Ray release comes rated R “for language, and brief violent and sexual content.”

Will you be picking this up? I’m starting to think that I still may, despite owning it on DVD and Blu-Ray…
