Twice before we have written about BREAKING THE GIRL, the last time being in March of this year, when new cast members Madeline Zima and Brit Marling were added to the production. Fast forward eight months and what do we have? A few more starring names, a newly fashioned synopsis and a promo sales poster. Soak it all in…
First, the names. Although it appears Marling has been eschewed from the scene, Zima will be joined Agnes Bruckner (below), Shawn Ashmore, John Stockwell, Tiya Sicar, Kate Levering, Manish Dayal, Billy Mayo, Sam Anderson, Melanie Mayron and Shanna Collins.
The lowdown: Sara is an ambitious, beautiful twenty-year old working her way through her sophomore year at Browning College. Alex, her gorgeous and privileged classmate, takes Sara under her wing. As the two girls become closer, they become friends with benefits. Alex and Sara commiserate over their respective enemies and Alex half-jokingly suggests that they should kill off each other’s nemeses. Sara shrugs off the suggestion as a morbid joke, until someone turns up dead.
BREAKING THE GIRL, directed by Jamie Babbit and written by Mark Distefano and Guinevere Turner, is currently in post-production.
