AITH Horror Vid of the Week: Screamers, Sam Raimi! Supernova! Horror short!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Here we are again, the weekend has arrived and it's time to assemble all of the latest additions to our JoBlo Horror YouTube channel (check it out and subscribe HERE) together in one place. It's the AITH HORROR VIDEOS OF THE WEEK!

This week we gave SCREAMERS some love, inducted the great Sam Raimi into our HORROR HALL OF FAME, shared director Kevin Cappiello's horror/comedy THE DIVORCING as part of our horror short film showcase, and dug into the troubled making of the 2000 film SUPERNOVA with an episode of WTF HAPPENED TO THIS HORROR MOVIE? All of these videos can be seen below.

SCREAMERS – Best Horror Movie You Never Saw

We take on Christian Duguay's sci-fi horror adaptation of Philip K. Dick's short story "The Second Variety": SCREAMERS (1995). The film stars Peter Weller (yes RoboCop himself), Quebec star Roy Dupuis (the flick was shot in Montreal, Canada) and Scream Queen Jennifer Rubin (Nightmare on Elm Street 3, Bad Dreams). It was written by ALIEN scribe Dan O'Bannon and Miguel Tejada-Flores who penned Revenge of the Nerds. Here's the synopsis:

"A military commander stationed off planet during an interplanetary war travels through the devastated landscape to negotiate a peace treaty, but discovers that the primitive robots they built to kill enemy combatants have gained sentience."

SAM RAIMI – Horror Hall of Fame

SAM RAIMI: From his low budget baptism of fire to helming one of cinema’s biggest franchises. In the latest entry in our Horror Hall of Fame, we open up the Necronomicon to find out how Sam Rami forged his own blood-soaked path to Hollywood, and brought his best buddies along for the ride.

What does it take to become a Horror icon? Whether it be the Filmmakers orchestrating the frights, the Artists crafting the gore, or the Actors engineering the scares, this series takes an in-depth look at the men and women who paved the way for the way for an entire generation of horror fans, and made the genre what it is today.

THE DIVORCING (2020) – Short Horror Film

Synopsis: A marriage counselor must conduct an exorcism over a Zoom call.

Written, Directed and Edited by Kevin Cappiello

Starring: Zack Pearlman as Edgar, Bree Essrig as Jessica and Ify Nwadiwe as Marriage Counselor

Executive Producer: Mayron Baptista

Produced by Brandon Hula

Special Effects Makeup by Cat Calico

SUPERNOVA (2000) – WTF Happened to this Horror Movie

From the mind of House on Haunted Hill creator William Malone comes a Geoffrey Wright film that became a Walter Hill film, that became a Francis Ford Coppola film, that became a Jack Sholder film and that became a final product that was disowned by everyone involved. Yup SUPERNOVA starring James Spader, Angela Bassett, Robert Forster, Lou Diamond Phillips, Robin Tunney and Peter Facinelli is an ideal candidate for our WTF column. What was to be a modest HELLRAISER meets DEAD CALM in space opus became a production clusterf*ck. Tap the video and find out WTF HAPPENED TO THIS HORROR MOVIE?!

Watch Supernova HERE if you dare!

Hollywood has had its fair share of historically troubled productions. Whether it was casting changes, actor deaths, fired directors, in-production rewrites, constant delays, budget cuts or studio edits, these films had every intention to be a blockbuster, but were beset with unforeseen disasters. Sometimes huge hits, sometimes box office bombs.
