Get ready friends, another zombie outbreak is in the forecast!

Deadline has it that Anchor Bay has just acquired rights to Chris Roosevelt’s zombie film THE DEMENTED, poised for an unknown 2013 release. The flick just wrapped in Louisiana, and stars such genre stalwarts as Sarah Butler (I Spit remake), Michael Welch (Twilight Saga), Kayla Ewell (Vampire Diaries), Brittney Alger (21 Jump Street) and Richard Kohnke (Mighty Fine).

Coming from Zero Gravity Management and ChickFlicks’ Sara Risher, who was involved in many of the original NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET movies, THE DEMENTED goes like this:

Six college friends meet up for a carefree weekend that turns deadly. A terrorist attack in a nearby town infects much of the townspeople with a deadly virus that induces rabies-like symptoms, only far more severe. Several of those infected (the title characters) attack the estate where the friends have been vacationing. Can they survive? Where will they hide? Is anyone left? Will we ever get our fill of these flesh eating zombie fiends?

All good, solid questions ay? So is whether or not Roosevelt can deliver something memorable with his feature debut. We shall see…

Kayla Ewell!
