Warner Bros. has decided to shuffle their release dates, resulting in some good news regarding a couple upcoming films that are of interest to us here at Arrow in the Head. Instead of being delayed, both of these films have been moved forward in the WB schedule.

First up is the third film in the ANNABELLE franchise, which isn't officially titled ANNABELLE 3 but that's all we have to call it right now. It had slipped my mind that this movie is actually coming out this year and not next. It was originally scheduled to reach theatres on July 3rd, which would have only given it a day before the first screenings of SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME. Warner Bros. has now moved it up five days to June 28th.

The June 28th date puts it up against another sequel that's coming at us fast, 47 METERS DOWN: UNCAGED. I don't think it would be good for either the 47 METERS DOWN follow-up or ANNABELLE 3 to come out on the same day, so I would hope that one of them is going to flinch and move. I'm sure UNCAGED could use some extra post-production time…

ANNABELLE 3 is written and directed by Gary Dauberman, who wrote both ANNABELLE and ANNABELLE: CREATION. The film begins with

the Warrens bringing the Annabelle doll to a place where she can no longer wreak havoc: their Artifacts Room. Annabelle awakens the room’s evil which sets its sights on a new target: the Warrens’ ten year old daughter Judy. The young girl, along with her teenage babysitter cousin and the cousin’s friend, square off against the evil doll.

Mckenna Grace, Madison Iseman, and Katie Sarife star, with special appearances by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.

Looking ahead to 2020, Warner Bros. has also given its MonsterVerse entry GODZILLA VS. KONG a new release date, moving it forward two months. Once set to come out on May 29, 2020, GODZILLA VS. KONG will now be in theatres on March 13, 2020.

That means we're going to get to see this GODZILLA / KONG: SKULL ISLAND monster mash just ten months after this year's GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, which is coming out on May 31st. That is awesome.

GODZILLA VS. KONG has the following synopsis:

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

GODZILLA VS. KONG is directed by THE GUEST / YOU'RE NEXT's Adam Wingard, working from a screenplay by Terry Rossio.

The film stars Alexander Skarsgard, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Eiza Gonzalez, Jessica Henwick, Julian Dennison, Demian Bichir, Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, and Shun Oguri.
