Bronson look-alike stars in prison film Escape from Death Block 13

Death Kiss Robert Bronzi

Charles Bronson look-alike Robert "Bronzi" Kovacs first caught our attention last year when his familiar face showed up in the marketing materials for the Western horror film FROM HELL TO THE WILD WEST. Since then, he has followed in Bronson's footsteps with the DEATH WISH-esque DEATH KISS (pictured above), and now production has just wrapped on his third film, the prison action movie ESCAPE FROM DEATH BLOCK 13

Written and directed by Gary Jones, best known for directing MOSQUITO and AXE GIANT: THE WRATH OF PAUL BUNYAN, the movie also stars Nicholas Turturro, Lawrence-Hilton Jacobs, Chris Hahn, Debbie Scaletta, Tim Lovelace, and Lyindaa Russell.

The story:

After being framed for murder, a man agrees to become an informant during his stay at a notorious prison. Once inside, he finds that his biggest threat may not come from his fellow convicts.

ESCAPE FROM DEATH BLOCK 13 was filmed at the old Ohio State Reformatory, which has been featured in movies like THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, AIR FORCE ONE, TANGO & CASH, and the upcoming ESCAPE PLAN 3. It's also a place I visit almost every year, as it gets turned into a haunted house during the Halloween season.

I'm hoping to see Bronzi continue to capitalize on the fact that he looks like Bronson for a long series of films. ESCAPE FROM DEATH BLOCK 13 sounds promising, and I'm looking forward to watching Bronzi take down villains in a location I have been to many times.

We'll keep you updated on this one as more information is made available. In the meantime, check out the badass poster below:
