Christian Bale flys to Aurora, Colorado to visit the victims of last week’s shooting

In the wake of the unconscionable tragedy in Aurora, Colorado last Friday – which left 12 dead and 58 others wounded – Batman himself, Christian Bale (who asked that the media NOT be told that he was coming), took it upon himself to visit the victims of the shooting this week. No orders, no studio mandates, we’re told Bale felt compelled to do this all on his own. A pretty stand up move, no doubt!

Of course, with the international press circuit for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES cut short, Bale had ample time to make such a visit. No telling how much, if at all, the online petition that apparently went online last week urging the star of the movie that was playing when the massacre took place, make such a visit, weighed on Bale’s decision to fly out to Colorado. Whatever the motivation, it’s something Bale did not have to do. In fact, he did it quietly, sans any self-promotion or loud proclamations.

Before the trip however, Bale issued the following statement:

“Words cannot express the horror that I feel…I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”

Amen CB, amen!
