Jeffrey Combs, Don Coscarelli, Kevin Smith & more honor Stuart Gordon

Earlier today we passed along the sad news that Master of Horror Stuart Gordon passed away last night at the age of 72. And now we have a few words of tribute from some of Gordon's fellow filmmakers such as Don Coscarelli (PHANTASM, BUBBA HO-TEP), Don Mancini (CULT OF CHUCKY, CURSE OF CHUCKY), Kevin Smith (RED STATE), and Lloyd Kaufman (THE TOXIC AVENGER, POULTRYGEIST: NIGHT OF THE CHICKEN DEAD).

The film world lost a master and many lost a dear friend. As a filmmaker he was bold, brash and brave. He was a true visionary. As a friend he was kind, gentle and always encouraging. At the first “Masters of Horror” dinner, Stuart said something which resonated with every horror filmmaker: "Horror films are a rehearsal for our own deaths." Best known for directing RE-ANIMATOR, Gordon was also the mad man behind such classics as FROM BEYOND, CASTLE FREAK, DAGON, DOLLS, ROBOT JOX, FORTRESS, SPACE TRUCKERS, KING OF THE ANTS, STUCK, and EDMOND.
