First blood has been drawn. Last week, we reported that Fox is developing a TV show called Rambo: New Blood with Sylvester Stallone as executive producer, but evidently his involvement is not the case.
According to a spokesperson, “Contrary to reports, Sylvester Stallone has opted not to participate in the planned Rambo television series in any way at all." Stallone added this ever-so-brief statement: “I wish the others well with the project.”
Rambo: New Blood lives on, telling the story of:
The complex relationship between Rambo and his son, J.R., an ex-Navy SEAL.
How this story will be accomplished without the presence of Stallone onscreen or off remains a mystery. Hopefully they find some real talent to replace him and create a kick-ass project, but the likelihood of that is about as high as critics enjoying a Jai Courtney movie. The pilot episode has been written by Jeb Stuart (DIE HARD), so that's a small comfort, but there's basically nothing left to keep fans invested in this series. More on this story as it breaks, and I mean that in every sense of the word.
