While at the American Film Market, the Bloody Disgusting brood happened upon an interesting piece of promotional material for Jaume Balagueró’s English-language flick FLATMATE. Balagueró is, of course, one of the directors behind [REC], and this will be his first film in English since 2005’s FRAGILE (starring Elena Anaya, pictured below).

The promo material lays out the plot for the flick, about which nothing was known before. Essentially, FLATMATE is about a disturbed doorman named Cillian, who uses his knowledge of the building’s tenants to manipulate and invade their lives – without them even knowing it. In particular, he becomes fascinated with a young woman named Clara, with whom he takes a morbidly deep interest. Before long he’s learning everything there is to know about Clara; eventually even going so far as to drug her and sleep with her… But, as all things must in sordid affairs like this, things get very complicated – especially when it seems as though someone knows his vile secret.

To see the full synopsis, which is even longer than that, head on over to Bloody Disgusting.

FLATMATE is budgeted at $16 million, and will begin shooting in New York soon.
