IFC Midnight is Witching & Bitching, takes North American rights

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

We’ve been excited to peep Alex de la Iglesia’s insane-looking WITCHING & BITCHING ever since we first saw the badass trailer for the flick way back in March, and now our wait is close to being over as Variety is reporting that IFC Midnight has scooped up North American rights to the comedic fright film.

The silly, manic tale of witchcraft and the battle of the sexes previously hit North America when it closed the Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness and made its U.S. debut at Austin’s Fantastic Fest. Now, it will find its way to general audiences courtesy of IFC Midnight in 2014, seeing a theatrical US release and simultaneous bow on VOD platforms in the coming months.

Abroad, having sold more than 40 territories, WITCHING & BITCHING is romping towards being sold out, with just a few major territories – the U.K, Australia – left to close.

“Part relationship comedy, part horror film, the film concerns a group of thieves who plan to leave Spain, avoid the authorities and head to France, however, their journey is interrupted when they fall into the hands of a coven of witches.”

WITCHING & BITCHING’s ensemble cast boasts some of Spain’s biggest film and TV stars, such as Mario Casas, Hugo Silva, Carmen Maura, Terele Pavez, Carolina Bang, Secun de la Rosa, Pepon Nieto and Jaime Ordonez.

We’ll keep you posted as to when the film will hit theaters and VOD. Personally I can’t wait to check this one out!
