Universal's resurrected monster series has nabbed a startlingly high wattage cast so far (including Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe on THE MUMMY and Johnny Depp as THE INVISIBLE MAN), so it's not actually a shock to hear that the role of Frankenstein's Monster might be filled by none other than Javier Bardem.
Universal has approached Bardem to fill the role, which would appear sometime before their BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN feature, which is also in development.
If Bardem does take the part, he will be joining a group of famous actors spanning generations who have played the iconic monster, including Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney Jr., Christopher Lee, Robert De Niro, Aaron Eckhart, and Randy Quaid.
