It’s official: Feature version of Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving is on the way!

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Back when GRINDHOUSE hit theaters one of the most talked about things regarding the release wasn’t the actual films involved, but instead the ‘faux’ trailers thrown in-between. More specifically Eli Roth’s THANKSGIVING trailer is what had a lot of people talking right off the bat.

Now it’s no secret there’s been talk of a THANKSGIVING feature ever since that trailer hit but things just haven’t been able to line up. That’s understandable considering ever since he’s entered producer territory Eli Roth has been one busy son of a gun. Today that all changes!

You see Roth recently sat down with Behind the Thrills to talk about his Las Vegas attraction GORETORIUM but the question as to whether THANKSGIVING would ever be made into a feature was quickly brought up. Here’s Roth’s response:

“Dude, it’s gonna happen. I’m working with the CLOWN writers on it. We have a call scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Jeff Rundell, my co-writer and I have a very extensive treatment. We finally cracked the story and how to make it really really scary, and the reason to do it, and I’m really excited about it. So the CLOWN script was one of the best scripts I’ve ever read, and we’re like ‘before Jon [Watts] shoots CLOWN, he has a window.’ Chris Ford, who’s movie ROBOT & FRANK just opened… Chris and John are going to write the screenplay with me and my partner Jeff, so we’ll have a screenplay soon.”

Nice! So things are moving on ahead with THANKSGIVING. If that’s not excellent news, then I don’t know what is. Of course Roth isn’t going to say the story sucks, but for him to say it’s really really scary I’ll go ahead and take his word for it. Color me stoked! I’m sure I’m not the only one either.

What do you guys think? Excited that THANKSGIVING is finally on the right track? Spit some bullets below and let us know as we wait for more much-needed updates on this little diddy.
